After enjoying a Sunday lunch, Hubby asked what's for dessert... uh...oh... ummm, "Want a cup of coffee?," I asked... he declined and went into the room... Shoot!!! That was a silent challenge... Better think of something quick and good... I immediately went to the kitchen and opened the ref scouting for something... none... freezer, hmmm...
Vanilla Ice Cream... okay, but I will definitely not serve just the ice cream to him... what now?... There's got to be something here... when I turned around, guess what I found on the nook?... I saw a plate of cooked,
Caramelized and Sweetened Banana (Minatamis na Saging) ... Gotcha!!! ... All the while, our house help cooked these beautiful bananas... again, am I just lucky or what... :)
Anyway, for those who are not familiar with these bananas,
Saba Banana is a cooking variety that Filipinos love... it's very easy to cook... just slice and cook with
Muscovado sugar and some water until done... for me, I would have added
Pandan leaves or
Vanilla syrup for more flavor...
Now, to serve this quick dessert... I just put a scoop of
Vanilla Ice Cream in a dessert cup, add in the
Caramelized Bananas, drizzled some sauce from the bananas on top of the ice cream... and here was the finish product that finally put a real smile into Hubby's face... :)
